Dream

Dear diary,

I had a dream last night about my work and what I'll be doing next.

I dreamt I still worked with Schalk and he was developing a new service line to train and ups kill the youth about what they needed to know about nature and sustainability.

It was about preparing youth to have a different mindset than previous generations, to equip them to take care of the planet, and not just take for their own sake.

To respect all living beings as sacret, no matter what my opinion of them is.

My dream changed into being in a lineup to jump into a dark tube, which assumable lead into a tank of water.  Before I jumped I analysed if it would be better just to dive in and if it was going to be deep enough if the momentum takes me down faster and thus deeper into the water.

Everyone else just jumped without question.

When will I jump?

Birthday letter

Dear Anrie,

Make this year count!!!

You have the support you seek now.  Excuses be gone!

Go and get the life you dream of.  You now have your woman who supports you in all you do, but YOU need to step up and take it. Do it.  Follow your purpose.

Consolidate your years of research.

Finish your book, add new poems and start your new book.

Do what you must to sort out your finances.

Go love your woman!

Birthday Poem from Aileen

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANRIE my twin soulmate
Who triggers issues for me to contemplate
You are kind but determined to reflect the truth
No escape from the realities you unearth

I miss you so much my SPECIAL friend. (Ha Ha!)
The one on whom I can depend
To let me see my faults and flaws
Correct them and grow in confidence

So much has changed for you in a year
New country, new girlfriend, home and career
From anguish and sorrow and rebound love
To finding Jean the light of your life

I know Jean feeds you healthy food
Biodynamic which is super good
And now her new Vitamix toy
I'm sure will bring you both great joy

I'm so happy that Jean spoils you to pieces
As you dear sis deserve fulfilled wishes
You've become part of an instant family
A cultural experience with respect each way

You cant help but try to uplift all you meet
Give guidance and clarity and support so complete
You're driven by your spiritual soul
To assist everyone to achieve their goal

I feel the time has come to change career
Something more rewarding is required here
This job you're in doesn't resonate with your soul
So look out for opportunities that align with your goal

Your book is very nearly complete
A long painstaking, arduous feat
You're onto research for the next one
Moving closer to your lifes mission

So today as you deliberate on your life
Give thanks for the joy and the strife
As both are essential to your growth
and part of your journey in search of your truth

So my dear friend Anrie on your special day
Much love and happiness I'm sending your way
Hope the day is filled with joy and fun
And cant wait to see the silhouette pics of you and Jean!

Happy 6 year anniversary

Only six years ago
Life was unknown
life was an exiting adventure
getting on a plane
to a new land
a new culture
a way of being

In my new world
I love freely
I feel intensely
I belong completely
I flourish in the peaceful energy
that is New Zealand

After six years of exploring
of learning new things
of starting afresh

I now stand before myself
naked of all expectations
no attachment to the outcome
free to choose
free to be
where ever I am
where ever I go

Standing before me
a choice to move again
to go to a new land
to explore new beginnings
is NZ to small for me now?

Will I enjoy disappearing
in the great unknown
from where I came?

Where life is fast
sometimes cruel and impersonal
will life be rich with experience?
you bet!

What would need to happen
for me to get excited?

how much of my life in NZ
has been consumed of work?
How much have been spent on
new experiences?
new friends?
new hobbies?
new roots?

Will those roots last me?
Even if I move next door?

I love you (letter to self)

Dear diary,

I love you.  I am grateful for the life you have and the passion for living, the love for others and the joy you bring.

Your focus has been internal for some time and that was necessary.  You feel deeply and intently and you care very much.

It is a joy to be with you every day.  I never know what comes next.  I worry sometimes that you eat crap, although I can feel the temporary joy it is giving you.

Learn to share the gifts not to have it all by yourself.

Allow to be in the moment, be present.  When you forget, take a deep breath in, and remember who you are.

Powerful, beautiful, creative, caring, loving, peaceful.

You know why you are here.
Why are you still searching?
You bring love and acceptance
Not Judgement
Loving Kindness
Freedom of expression
Love for nature
Careful consideration of impact
but knowing most worry is unnecessary and unkind to self

Happiness is...

Dear diary,

Isn't it funny how life are just a cycle and recycle of old thoughts? No matter how hard you try to create new habits, new ways of living, the old ones just keep on coming back.

You can change everything around you, but if you do not change the one thing that is not aligned with who you are, you keep on coming back to the same old feelings.

Or not? If you change every single thing and person around you, will it make one ounce of difference? I heard a saying many years ago that I'm sure you know it too, a simple phrase, but difficult to face. It force us to focus within, and now without.

"The world is your mirror"

Short, sweet, and seems harmless as the words roll over your tongue, and through your mind, and sometimes easily cleared by your internal thought filters. What does that really mean? Everything you see is a reflection of yourself. So, if you are not happy with what you see, if you stand in judgement of the world and see it as harsh, discriminating and conditional, does that not mean that by definition you are the same?

If the world is judging you, it is reflecting back your own judgemental behaviour. If the world seems unfair, think back when you have treated someone else unfairly. It shouldn't take too long to remember. When people seem sad around you, is it not because you recognise your own sadness and despair?

I struggle with this concept, as it is much easier to think it is outside circumstances that makes us miserable than ourselves. Not having to take responsibility for our actions and feelings and blame it on others is much easier than having to reflect on what the cause may be of our current situation.

They say you shouldn't make any major decisions when you are down / depressed. Fair enough, but if the same thoughts comes up when you are down, is it not worth while to consider that maybe the solutions you think of when you are down is worth pursuing?

Denial. Some problems just never goes away no matter how much 'change' you through at it. If you don't fix the core, you just continue to ignore it. But then again, you may not be seeing the wood for the trees. Who is to say what you see is real? What is real, anyway? Is it thoughts, a feeling, or just something you know?

Faith. Something we believe to be true. Yet, your truth may not be true for others.

Maybe life is just an experiment. A play ground where we are mixed with different situations to test how far the human spirit can go, how much it can take before it breaks away and claim the life it is meant to live. And what does that mean? Does that mean that once we've past the test, broke the rules of the experiment to proof the human spirit is undefinable, our life ends?

Just to move on the the next test or experiment. A new house of mirrors.

Happiness is... a reflextion.

The Tide

Rhythms. tide, tidal waves, what is your tide doing today?

Is it low water? Do you give more of your beach for people to have fun on?  Or are you on high tide splashing and washing away any evidence of guests?

Are you drawn back, hiding from the world, avoiding contact with anyone, gliding through our day on the winds of time, letting it take you where you need to be, without any effort?

Or are you enthusiastic?  Washing/Crashing against any who dares to come near?  Sharing your secrets, revealing your gifts.  Open to scrutiny, judgement, enjoyment?

Are you 'waving' aggressively one after the other, mixing your beaches as if in search of something lost buried deep in the sand?  Or are you calm, restful, slowly moving to and through, hardly moving any sand?

Are you living peacefully waiting for something to happen, or are you moving ferasly making something happen, even if the efforts are unwanted?  even if this something is not what you wanted after all?

Can you hear the moon calling?  Slowly pulling you in towards it?  The magnetic mesmerising gase that somehow asks you to move closer, as if you have a will not to.  And you think you can, but your physical body that is the sea moves not with your thoughts, but with the desires of the moon.  The mood cannot be ignored, cannot be disobeyed.

Destiny or chance?

Dear Diary,

The last year was filled with teachings. It was a year of change, challenges and opportunities. It was a year of questioning things about my life that I did not even consider need answering. Apart from the deeper spiritual journey that I was taking below the surface, there were many changes on the visible plain as well.

So it was no surprise when I told you that I was going to be content the next year with where I am and what I do. It was time for a somewhat 'boring' year again. I will only consider the changes that life brings to me, but I will not seek them out courageously. Just to stabilise life a little. A reasonable outlook, don't you think?

Life on the other hand continues on, whether we want to change or not. Of cause I had a choice in saying no, but within a week I was offered a different job, and I accepted the offer. Next year February I will start a new career in IT, private sector. Big deal, right?

Well, that is what happened on the surface, but now I want to share with you things that I have questions about, but have no answers - things that happens in the invisible realm. Things that only your intuition and psychics tells you about. The stuff that dreams are made of.

About 4 years ago, I met with a psychic, and she told me that I will leave my employment at the time. And due to the fact that I left, I will be offered two positions. (Now first off, I interpreted this in that I'll be looking for work while I'm still employed because there is no way in hell I will resign before I have another job, right?)

Then she said I will write down all the pros and cons of each offer, but they will have the same amount of pros and cons, although they will be different in direction. I asked her but how will I know which one will be the 'right' one, and she answered that in the end it will not matter, I will end up in the right place. So I did not think about it again, because I interpreted that as being, no matter where I am, I'll make the best of it, like I always do.

Well, as you know, I have resigned my employment to come to NZ without having any idea where my next pay cheque was going to come from. While I was doing job searching, I strolled into a book store and since it was nearing the end of the year, I picked up a "your fortune for 2009" for my star sign. Apart from other things, it said that I'll be accepting new employment in the new year, and it will be money driven. But no matter what I do, by the end of the year, I will have to change jobs again, but this time be more focused on what I enjoy doing. Well, dah... if you don't have a job, taking a job will be money driven, you'll do anything just to make a living. So I thought nothing of it.

Early 2009 I was offered two positions at the same time. So I accepted the one that was 'easier', and although the work was nothing like I've done before, I enjoy doing it. And yet, what happens 9 months later? The other company (that I declined) offers me another position again. Only after I accepted the offer, did I remember the psychics words, that in the end it will not matter, "I'll end up in the right place" (mysterious music in the background).

Are there any connection in this, or if you wait long enough, will you be able to interpret anything a psychic tells you into your life at some point? Is there such a thing as destiny, or is it all chance? Or is it a little bit of both?

While we're on the topic, in 2003 I visited a psychic/medium who told me that we will travel to the east. She said I'll be interested in the cultures there, and I will go for philosophical reasons. I asked her what does she mean by East, and she said, not like China, but somewhere smaller in the area of islands, like Malaysia, or even more south, like Bali or Samoa or something.

In 2006 I visited with a psychic who read your aura, and who refrain from telling you your future, but rather help guiding you do understand what makes you happy, etc... Well, she asked me a couple of times if I live near the sea. I said no, I've lived in JHB all my life. She said again, that I'm surrounded by water, she can't see where, but it is just water everywhere, like I'm on an island. I said no, maybe you see a previous life, (ha ha).

And where am I two years later? On an island surrounded by water. Did I make decision to lead up to this point? Yes sure I did. Was what she said the drive? In all honesty, I forgot about it. The decisions that led up to us being in NZ today was the total sum of very different thoughts and decisions that could not have been achieved by a mere knowledge that we want to live on an island. The plans were to go to Aus anyway when we finally decided to leave SA. A chain of events has brought us to this place, the guidance of a friend, the observations of a colleague, seemingly random acts of many. And maybe, the invisible realm of spirit guides... who knows!

Are we in control of our lives, or are there unseen forces guiding us along, witnesses of our hearts desires that has become invisible to ourselves. Is all that is required not a willingness to listen to our environment, follow those things that will move us in the direction we want/need to go, and to surrender to the fact that maybe we are not the masters of our own universe, but merely captains of our own ship, sailing on the "unpredictable" ocean of life. Sometimes having the ability to sail in your own direction just for entertainment and to alleviate boredom, and sometimes being forced down unknown avenues reminding us that maybe, there is a set out plan for our lives after all.

Scorpio

"No task is too great for the clever Scorpions. They master most anything. They have extremely charming manners that draw others. They solve difficult problems with ease. They are quick-witted, innovative, and they have total and intense belief in themselves. They are intellectual and their memory is phenomenal. They are the ultimate diplomats."

Happy Birthday Letter

Another year has gone with a blink of an eye.

First of all, let me say thank you to my mother who has yet again surprised me with a "happy birthday" gift from heaven. I went to a book sale two days before my birthday, and strolled leisurely through the many aisles of second hand books for sale for charity. After going through the $3 and $5 section and were ready to leave, my eye caught a section called "specially marked". My curiosity led me to the closed off area, where I found encyclopaedia type compilations of books.

As I walked fast past each table, merely glancing over the books, not really interested but taking in the variety, I suddenly register a very familiar site: the "Children's Encyclopaedia". I picked up one of the 20 volumes, and it felt so surreal, as if I'm 5 years old again. I paged through the familiar pages of my childhood books and smiled at every picture that greated me with pride. The pages were crisp and the books kept in immaculate condition. Not with the scribbles I left on my own set (suddenly repulsed by my own sense of destruction as a child).

These are the books that contained my loved poem "the king who sailed to the end of the earth" that I could rehearse from age twelve until this day (published on this very blog if you're interested). Was I pulled closer to the books, called to come and have a stroll through my memories? Did mother push me along? Reminding me that there were indeed happy times in my childhood, and in fact the very stories that formed my values, the pictures of foreign worlds not known to me at such a young age - feeding my curiosity.

Every picture taking me through a far felt emotion, the questions of what it all means. And with an instant I know: this is mother saying, "happy birthday, I love you".

Did I buy the books? If I don't buy them, some other child may get the opportunity to enjoy them, to form their life and to make them curious about life. Why would I buy books to hold on to the past? Their only value to me was to remember them, and as a communication link with the unseen world.

~~~
So much has happened since my last birthday: I found a job in our new country, and met many challenges and opportunities to grow. After my soul-search holiday of 6 months I finally took a position as an analyst for the public sector.
I had to get an entire new frame of reference for working life. The differences are contributed to various factors; a new country, new cultures, from private to public sector, from diverse functional teams, to a single function team. From a busy buzzing phone ringing fast pace environment and fire fighting customer problems, to the slow, methodical, painfully accurate environment of public analysis. I must have had a hand full of phone calls in the last year at work. Most of my dealings are by email, or face to face.
I’ve learned to negotiate requirements, to do only things others can understand and replicate. The words “team-work” has a whole new meaning for me. It is not the same as the sum of individuals, but to simulate ‘one-mind’ thinking as closely as possible to ensure continuity. Pretty much like the Borg. Where the borg queen decides the cause of action, and every single drone execute the decision. With the exception, that the borg queen does not mind when you suggest a different way of doing things, as long as there is a very good reason to change, and the rest of the drones are capable of adapting the new skills. With so many people coming and going, the only constant is the task at hand.
I have proven once again that I can adapt to any environment that I have to. However, there always seem to be a cost of locking yourself in an office every day. I have found a greater awareness here that your life journey should be enjoyable, where ever you are. There is not a tomorrow when life will start. This is it, and make the most of it. Enjoy the journey, because if your only focus is that things will change when you reach your destination (or when the task at hand is done) then you are constantly living a life of expectation and anticipation. We need to get some enjoyment from the journey as well, or else the destination will not mean much, or will prove to be an empty promise.
I have also began my degree in Psychology, but it ended faster than it started. The reason is really not because the work is too difficult, but because I realised that I do not want to spend a minute on things that does not bring me joy. This seems very childish and ignorant, but in actual fact we are the ones that fills our day with things to do. Yes, to some degree it is filled by our employer. But it is very important to be able to only give your employer the time he/she is paying you for. You do not get paid to be a zombie in front of the tellie, or a perfectionist cleaning cleaning cleaning away your life. You do that by choice.
Spend some time every day to do what you love, that is only for you. For me, that means something with photography. Since we arrived in NZ, I have this idea not to buy art to hang in the house, but to use my own photography. This year, I will make this happen. Unlock my creative gene. When I get a chance, I take photos, I will be willing to learn from others, and allow myself the chance to formulate my own style.
No matter who you are, where you live, and in what environment you find yourself. It seems if you are someone who are conscious of your existance (and not all humans are), you'll always have the drive to be more than what you already are.
So, this year, I wish you a year of calmness, and clear thought. Of living out your creativity, of less blame, judgements and worry. Of more joy, love, and laughter. Enjoy who you are, and what you are in the process of becoming.
Bucket List
In the next couple of post, I'm going to do some catch up work. I had many notes scattered everywhere, and scanned them all in before we moved. However, now I'm yet to go through each and post in on my blog. Some may interest you, some may be boring. But all are things I would like to keep and remember.
About a year ago, the movie Bucket List inspired me to make a list of things I (and most we) want to do before we 'kick the bucket' so to speak. Although this list was done before we immigrated, it still applies, and was a joy to read again. One has to have a list of dreams, and when your life gets dull and boring, just reading it create some excitement and enthusiasm for life. Just to realise all the potential and opportunities we have to enjoy and experience so much more than our forefathers. Life has many questions, but one should never question our spirit for adventure.
For inspiration, here are some of the things on "Things to do before you die" list that interested
me:
Until Next Time, Odo
In September 1996 this wonderful puppy was born into our world. Odo, from the first time I saw you in the pet shop, I just new you were a bundle of joy, and you changed my mind there and then that we could have a third child.
Without knowing it, I've placed a difficult task on your shoulders from the beginning. I was hoping that you would alleviate the fighting between your new brother and sister, and with your presence help them to get along. What I didn't know is that I've put you in an environment that caused you to choose between them. It was a nowhere situation with two dogs trying to be top dog, and it left you in the middle of it all. Which ever way, you did it, and the fighting stopped.
I want to tell you that I'm sorry. No matter my initial intentions, your soft and good heart changed my life forever. you were so selfless, asking for so little, accepting so much responsibility.
You have protected your brother until the day he died, you would step in between him and other dogs in the park that was potential threats. You stepped up, bravely and without a thought of your own safety. And so you successfully defused many situations.
I don't know how to describe how much I love you. Sometimes I was not sure who was the mother, and who was the child. You were my protector, my comforter, my friend. You were the ultimate peacemaker where ever you were.
And in the later years, even though you had so much pain to bare, you pushed on and shared your love with us and your grandparents in such an unselfish way, that we will never forget your tender love. We also know, chances are that we will never be able to experience such dedication ever again.
I miss you... I miss your warm neck, where I could bury my face when I didn't want to face the world, I miss your gentle sigh confirming your content with your life, your excited bark when you know we're going for a walk in the park, your reserved excitement when you wade into the water... any water. Your 'zen' eating habits, picking up one pallet at a time, and savour each one as if it's the tastiest snack you had in a long time. You know, dogs normally turn about 3 times before they lie down, but you would turn, and turn, and turn, and scrub, and move the blankets until it is just right!
I regret not being with you in the last six months of your life (as I knew I would), but I also know that you forgive me and that you understand now why you couldn't come with us. My greatest fear for leaving you behind was that you would die alone on a cold vet table, having no one to comfort you. That fear was forever banished when on the early morning of 10 March 2009 you went peacefully in your sleep. Once again, doing the selfless act of letting go, because you know your grandparents will not have the heart to do it for you.
Thank you for being part of my life for 12 years, my gentle giant. I know that when ever I'm afraid, you would watch over me, facing the threat, ready to protect me with your life. I wish you joy where ever you are now, and where you may go next.
Play, my sweet puppy, play!!!
Who are you?
Contemplation at the sea side today:
How much do you have to strip away to get rid of all your masks? Do you define yourself in terms of your job? your home? your family? Your partner? your dogs? your possessions like your car? your electronics? your hobbies? your tastes in music, art, movies and other entertainment? If you strip away all your roles and responsibilities, what is left?
Who is the you no-one get to see? The you who only talks to the sea? the birds? the trees? The you who will submerge yourself in a stream. Naked. with nothing to hide you or protect you from the world. The you who loves the rhythm of the sea, the water that spray slightly on your face.
The you with no worries, no illness, no demands, no cravings and no suffering. The you who is content with what you have, because you know you can never truly have anything.
You who do not have to talk to speak, who do not have to move to act, who do not need your legs to stand, who do not need your eyes to see, who do not use your ears to listen, and who do not feel with your hands, but with your heart, your energy, your rhythm. Your rhythm that is one with the sea.
Dear Diary, this is what I dream...
Sleeping (room) is in a retail store.  I get up early to read something in the news paper.  Room next door is Yvo's parents.  Yvo gets up to look at program on TV, something to do with her work.  When I'm done I'm going back to our room to get ready, but now in retail store and shoppers are already there.
Yvo follows me and ask me to wait for her.  I know more or less where the room is, but can't find it.  Yvo says 'it's down here' and I follow her, but we still can't find the room.
There is this one shop I keep on visiting, and the owner waits at the door and I rush out because I think it is closing time, but other workers are still inside and the owner shake her head disbelieving as to why I thought she's closing.
We share a table with many people.  I make a wise crack and everyone laugh but the shop owner misunderstood.  Both her and the person I make wise crack to is difference race.  I meant as a compliment and she thought it was derogative.  I don't help her right.  (something about wearing nice shoes so I thought he must have lots of money, but I made comment about something else).
Searching for self
When removed from the known, after a while,
when the excitement of the new subsides,
Does one reflect back on what was,
and what could have been if different options were taken
all of it wasted effort and energy.
How do we rid ourselves of the constant calling
that we should be busy, doing something else or worth while,
Why do we allow our lives to be robbed from us?
We are afraid of our own happiness
because we know it is impossible to maintain it.
What do I fear?
I fear a life with no meaning
A wasted effort on oneself when in fact
you should be busy meaning something to someone else
it does not mean my needs are unimportant
it means doing what you love to serve others.
You should not be afraid to accept payment for your services
it just needs to be a fair exchange of energy
My random career
My career feels like a constant search for more, for meaning.  Then to be moved back and forth by circumstance.  If I did not initiate change, would I have been here anyway?
I started working and frankly would have done any office work just to earn money.  I was given administration tasks, but then I got bored.  Turned out I did care what I did after all.  3 years later I asked to move to Debtors, doing reconciliations and admin, I wanted to be where the action is, I wanted to do something that matters.
I build internal relationships quickly and after 2 years I got entrusted with more admin work related to trade and stock.  Moved away from people contact and I got bored again.  I wanted to start studying and after giving it a go, decided finance is not for me.  I had to move.
I requested a transfer to the Planning administration role to put me right in the middle of all the action.  I implemented processes and procedures to streamline the business process.  We then changed systems and had little management reports available to run the business.  I worked with IT to get reports required by the business.  Things quiet down again and I got bored again.
I then made my transition to IT being involved in Business Analysis work and believed that Project Management is what I wanted to do.  After consulting a coach, I realised that project management and business analysis is driving me crazy and not in line with my strengths.
One common denominator is focusing on the important things that need to be done, and designing dashboards.  The following notes:
Macro Environment
Competitors
Levers of success
Legislation
Direction / Strategy
Statistics
'   ' of balance
Some situations are either/or, measure on gliding scale:
A -----------------------------------------------|----->--------------------- B
| Goal, > Current State
Free Trade -----------------------------------------------------------------regulatory
first step to successful career is to know who you are, and what are your values:
  • Live by conviction
HONOUR UNITY IN DIVERSITY
  • We are all one
  • Communication & understanding
SMILE
  • Pleasant to be with
  • be with others who are pleasant
Day at the beach... what type of rock is in your hand?
Does our actions always have meaning?
Have you ever through rocks at a wall when you were a kid just to make it brake in pieces?  What would have been your motivation?  Are you aware of what you are doing or is it random selection?
Do you even consider the type of rock you through? It could be clay, it could be lime, or it could contain a diamond.  What will make you stop and look?  What would have to happen, or not happen, for you to stand still, observe what is in your hand before flinging it against a brick wall.
When all the rocks are thrown and we're left with only ourselves, who would we be?
Is meaning to my life purely dependent on what I mean to others?  Should that be enough, or is there more?  Am I suppose to be someone, or am I just an empty jar, able to contain many types of juices, depending on my choice.
I am linked to the arts, but in what way?  Am I a performer?  Do I really enjoy technology or is it an unfortunate competency?  How did I get here? Was it by accident, or is there a visible pattern to how I make my decisions, that ultimately lead me to where I am?
Choose Your Paradigm
Lorna Patten is a personal developer consultant who helps people and businesses have open communication.
http://www.openup.com.au/
She have this to say:
"In the old paradigm we are convinced that the only way to BE really OK is to DO more than someone else, DO better than someone else, HAVE more than others and keep striving to DO and HAVE more. We think this will make us happy. It does not. In fact what it really serves to do is make us more fearful - afraid that one day we might lose it so we'd better hold on tight. This is not the way to inner peace and happiness. The new paradigm offers a path to inner peace and happiness that is yours for the choosing. And it is up to you to choose it."
Personal Paradigm
In the old paradigm, I thought I was not good enough, but now I know I am OK
In the old paradigm, I was grounded in FEAR, but now I am grounded in LOVE
When I forget who I really am, I am scattered,
and when I remember who I really am, I am centered
When I forget who I really am, I am aloof,
and when I remember who I really am, I am involved
When I forget who I really am, I worry,
and when I remember who I really am, I live in the now
When I forget who I really am, I don't matter
and when I remember who I really am, I make a difference
When I forget who I really am, I am trapped
and when I remember who I really am, I am free
It is not about doing good to get planet points, it's about being yourself and enjoying others, and get the planet points anyway...
