Day at the beach

What joy at the beach
if you have the courage
to get out of your room
and enjoy the sun on your skin

Families out taking advantage of the weather
Dad walking hand in hand with his daughter,
strolling, wet sandals in his other hand.
Willing to stop as she bends down endlessly
to investigate natures treasures in the sand.

Young men passing a ball with
great delight and enjoyment
As if by magic, the ball
radiates happiness, when it is touched.
Eager to impress onlookers, who
seem oblivious to their efforts.

Children playing in the sand
building fortresses soon to be
demolished by the incoming wave
sea gulls flock together
a young boy curious, slowly walking
closer to touch them,
forever eluded by the flying birds

Lovers walking hand in hand
taking in the romantic scene
of the sun glistening on the ocean,
mountains dormant, blue and rigid.

A young boy wade side to side
as he walks, hands deep inside his pockets
as if to hide himself from the world.
seemingly oblivious to the beauty around him.
Lift his nose to take in a fresh breath
and smell his growing loneliness.

A girl, relaxing on her towel
bare skin glistening in the sun
eager to share her beauty with
whomever is willing to look.
soaking up the warm in form of a tan
reading her book, escaping the world around her

Families sitting under the trees
picnic blanket filled with bread, fruit, snacks
is this quality time, being together time?
drinking and sharing stories together?

On the water is a float
with children using it as a dive board
holding on while their feet
are kicking up water, splashing as they play.

A young baby girl testing her toe in the cold water
walking slowly towards the deeper unknown,
careful not to get hurt, not step on a rock.
The children swimming ahead in the distance
her destination of choice, if courage wins.
She turns her head to look for encouragement
as if looking back will help her move forward

A worried mother spot the young child in the water
"What are you doing?" the voice is angry with concern
The baby looses all hope and turns
just as she was about to join the swimmers.
Her fear drives her back to the shore
much aster that it took her to wade off into the water
mother is angry now, she learns not to have courage.

And that is how we grow up
in units of people, and sometimes alone
looking for the group that we fit in or belong.
When you look and finally realize
you fit no where, and you belong everywhere.

My friend Aileen

My friend Aileen
is a sensitive soul
she's a big dreamer
although she believe she has no goal

She is a nurse by trade
and I can tell you true
she has all sorts of methods
up her sleeve, to help you

She knows her stuff
when it comes to medicine
she even sometimes calls herself
a walking pharmacy

She's got what you need
that's for sure
Alternative healing or
method can also help with a cure

And when you're sick
she'll take care of you
you can be sure
just like moma used to do

Aileen is also sometimes
just like a big child
asking 'why?' endlessly
to feed her childlike curiosity

'Are we there yet?' She'd ask
when away on a road trip
filled with excitement, and
not to let any adventure slip

Make sure to play some music
for my friend Aileen
Especially Celtic songs
to pain a Scottish scene

Now beware; playful Aileen
can sometimes tease
but she means no harm
put your mind at ease

The thing I admire the most
about my friend, is her
capacity to forgive
and believe no ill intent

She is ready to accept that
she can look at a situation
in a different way
without much contemplation

Nature is Aileen's best friend
it shows her miracles abound
Because she is eager to see
Caterpillars, Chrysalis and butterflies around

The butterflies would carry messages
from angels and other guides
they would come and dance for her
and surround her from all sides

She loves dear Molly who
loves spending time on walks for sure
While Aileen smell the flowers
Molly sniff out natures treasures

She walks the labyrinth for inspiration
and do her journey work her way
she'll right a poem or just a note
to express what she'd love to say

her poetry all perfectly rhymes
And make her feel so proud
but when a rhyme eludes her
She express her dismay aloud

She is in touch with her feelings
and she operates from her heart
And if she is ever in doubt,
her pendulum tells her she's smart

Although she was unsure at first
and believed she sucks at techno
she now finds herself sorting
her photos, just like a real pro

I'll let you in
on a little secret thing
my friend Aileen
wish she had angel wings

I see her admire the angel wings
on the cards that she draw
stroke them lovingly
and look upon them in awe

And sometimes when Aileen
does her special healing things
I swear that I can see behind her back,
spreading beautiful white wings
